Friends,
Pitch In For Baseball & Softball is off to a record start in 2021. In April, we will surpass issuing the number of grants we have averaged on an annual for the last several years. The demand for equipment continues to grow for three primary reasons:
1. New CDC safety regulations that require children to use their own equipment. These measures are necessary to ensure the safety of children and coaches. Many children use to share equipment like gloves or helmets; they no longer have that option.
2. Adverse financial impact of COVID on many families. Many families could not afford equipment before the pandemic and now, even more families cannot afford equipment because they are struggling financially. Because of the loss of income, many families are being forced to make tough decisions and cut all discretionary spending.
3. Adverse financial impact of COVID on many leagues and schools across the country. Leagues and schools are now being faced with an array of new expenditures to ensure safety. On top of that, many leagues were forced to refund registration fees last year and are having to lower fees this year to allow more kids to participate to field enough teams to play.
The demand for our services has never been greater and your gift helps us supply equipment to children in need. When making a gift, you are providing an opportunity for a child, or several children for that matter, to take the field and play ball. You are opening a door for them to escape the confines of the pandemic. You are giving them a safe, physical, recreational outlet that allows them to have fun, exercise, learn teamwork, and develop character. You are not just providing a helmet or glove to a kid; you are creating a positive impact on their lives and the lives of their families. For this, we are incredibly grateful and so are they. For that, we kindly thank you!
Best wishes to you and your family. Be well.
Regards,
