This project is set up in order to provide educational material for 131 poor students between the age of 5 and 12, who are lacking access to adequate school material in O Roong and O Ta Kok Primary Schools. The schools are located in a rural area of Svay Leu District, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. We help them to improve and develop their skills by providing educational necessities. This project will give the students a good opportunity for their own and their community's future.
Svay Leu is one of the poorest districts in Siem Reap including a high illiteracy and dropping out rate. This is due to many types of challenges which they are facing because of their bad living conditions. Most of the community members make their living through farming and sell some sort of vegetable which they grow by themselves. This kind of economic activity gives them a very low income for their daily life. Parents are not able to afford adequate school material for their children.
By providing the educational material to 131 poor students, they will improve their opportunities in life and develop their study smoothly. Also, they will gain more confidence to attend school and start to enjoy learning. This project also helps and motivates students to attend school more regularly and step by step the high illiteracy and school drop-out will decrease.
By providing educational materials support, 131 poor student will have better access to education which increases their opportunity for a higher level of education in their life. The high illiteracy and dropping out of school rate will decrease and their community can develop by having educated citizen. Like this, we not only make a difference for the individual family but rather for a better future of the whole community.
