Project Report: Donate to Help 2,000 Drug Addicts in Rusape

Organization: Sustainable World Zimbabwe Trust
Location: Rusape, Zimbabwe

Reporting Period Update

Although the project has not yet received its first donation, we are actively laying the groundwork to ensure immediate and effective implementation once funding begins. The need for this initiative remains urgent, and community interest continues to grow.

 The Ongoing Challenge

Drug and substance abuse continues to rise across Rusape and surrounding rural communities. Young people are increasingly exposed to harmful substances such as alcohol, illicit drugs, and misused prescription medications.

At present, there is no local rehabilitation facility, forcing affected individuals to seek help in distant cities—an option that is often unaffordable and inaccessible. Families are left struggling without support, and many youths fall deeper into addiction due to lack of timely intervention.

Progress & Preparatory Activities

Even without funding, our team has taken important steps to ensure readiness:

  • Engaged community leaders and stakeholders to build support for the rehabilitation initiative

  • Conducted informal assessments highlighting urgent demand for local rehabilitation services

  • Began designing a community-based rehabilitation model tailored to the needs of Rusape and Makoni District

  • Strengthened partnerships with counselors and social workers willing to support the project once funding is secured

What We Plan to Do With Funding

Once donations are received, we will immediately begin:

  • Establishing a local rehabilitation and counseling center

  • Providing professional addiction treatment and psychosocial support

  • Delivering life-skills training and reintegration programs for recovering individuals

  • Running community awareness campaigns to prevent substance abuse

Expected Impact

With your support, this project will:

  • Help up to 2,000 individuals access life-changing rehabilitation services

  • Reduce substance abuse and relapse rates in Rusape

  • Restore families and improve community safety

  • Empower vulnerable youths with skills for a better future

 A Call to Action

We are at a critical starting point. Your first donation will not just fund activities—it will ignite hope for thousands of vulnerable youths and families in Rusape.

By becoming one of our first supporters, you help unlock momentum, inspire others to give, and bring this much-needed rehabilitation center to life.

 Looking Ahead

We remain committed to transparency and will provide regular updates as soon as funding begins and milestones are achieved. Together, we can build a healthier, safer future for our community.
