The municipality of Chocó is located in the Colombian Pacific, a place characterized by its cultural diversity, jungles, rivers and beautiful beaches, but it is also one of the poorest departments in the country. This is why many of its inhabitants seek better opportunities elsewhere, as is the case of Helen, an 8-year-old girl whose parents seek health opportunities to treat strabismus.
This condition prevents the two eyes from aligning in the same direction, that is, they do not look at the same object at the same time and requires treatment to avoid further visual complications and interfere with the learning and reading processes.
At the Fundación Patronato we have supported Helen in her process through specialized consultations in orthoptics, ophthalmology, specialized exams, lenses and surgery. In Helen's case, it is necessary to perform a second surgery at the end of 2023, since her deviation eye still persists.
Helen is a very happy and dedicated girl with her study, she dreams of being a teacher and of giving many children of Chocó great learning. With your help we can support Helen for her second surgery and thus improve her quality of life.
