Donate Goats to Feed Orphans in Goma: Project Upda

By Jnavier | Cordinator

For the 64 children living at LEVE-MOI Orphanage in Goma, access to nutritious food remains an important challenge. Rising food prices make it difficult to provide balanced meals every day, particularly foods rich in protein that are essential for children's growth, health, and development. Through the Donate Goats to Feed Orphans in Goma project, we aim to establish a small, sustainable goat farming initiative that will help address these needs while creating a longer-term source of support for the orphanage.

Our fundraising target is $7,000, and we have not yet received any donations through this campaign. We are therefore still in the preparation and resource mobilization phase. We are currently identifying suitable trainers and prospective learners who can participate in the project's practical training activities. The next steps will include securing the necessary resources, purchasing breeding goats, preparing appropriate shelters, and arranging animal feed and veterinary care. These activities will begin once sufficient funding is available.

The project is designed to offer more than short-term food assistance. As the herd grows, it is expected to provide goat meat for the children and generate income through the sale of surplus animals. These earnings could help cover essential expenses such as food, education, healthcare, and other orphanage needs. While these benefits have not yet been achieved, we believe this approach can help build a more reliable and sustainable source of support for the children over time.

We are grateful to GlobalGiving for providing a platform that connects community-based organizations with donors around the world. This collaboration gives us an opportunity to share our mission, build relationships with supporters, and work toward our $7,000 fundraising goal. We warmly invite individuals, foundations, companies, and compassionate supporters to contribute to this initiative. Every donation brings us closer to establishing the goat farming program and improving access to nutritious food for these 64 children. Thank you to everyone who believes that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, safe, and with hope for a better future. With your support, we can turn this plan into a lasting source of nourishment and opportunity for children in Goma.
