About the Organisation: Sugam Jagriti is a grass root registered Social humanitarian organisation working with the aim "To establish a self reliant and equal society with the value of peace, equity, Justice and homogeneity''. Sugam Jagriti focuses on working for the betterment of poor people regardless of religion, caste, race, ethnicity or gender. Since inception the Organization focused on working for the betterment of disabled through mobilization ,health care, treatment and convergence with govt. entitlement and social security schemes.

Sugam Jagriti is Registered under Societies Registration Act 21/1860, Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) by Ministry of Home Affairs, Income Tax Exemption u/s 12A & 80G.

The organization has emphasised on developing community based resource pool from the same community among the primary beneficiaries through developing their skills and capability in various community need based issues, so that they can be a permanent resource for the community and provided service to community in sustained way. There are community as well as donors support in different subjects and issues .

Case Study
Self Care Training, mobilization & Health care support to a leprosy affected Person

Mr.Ramesh Kumar (Name Changed) age 38 Years, son of Mr. Baidnah Prasad (Name Changed) and resident of Mozafra villages , Islampur Block and Nalanda district is seriously affected by leprosy disease. He belongs to a Below Poverty Line Schedule Caste family. He has got neglected status in family and community due to serious social myths concerning leprosy. Society consider it as touchable and incurable disease. When organization people visited they see a person namely Ramesh Kumar is living a miserable life with no hope and aspiration and much as help less . Hence the Organization decided to support him . They are imparted Self Care Training & Health Care Support, so that they can managed their individual affairs independently. Further, they have been mobilized for development through convergence with govt. social security and entitlement schemes and assisted in processing. Further they are oriented on health care and provided health Check up. They are converged with Primary Health Centre and supported in regular proper treatment . As a result his status and self confidence level has improved a lot and leading towards developed life. In the meantime the organization is continuously doing community sensitization and family counselling , which has minimized the myths and misconception in the community. It has high impact at community level . Now Community people have faith that leprosy is a curable disease and improved their respect towards leprosy effected persons . He is also started getting support from family and society. He is living a healthy and prosperous life. He extend his thanks to SUGAM JAGRITI, Donors and The Global Giving Foundation for changing his life. He say without support it was impossible for him to lead a normal life.

Self Care skill up gradation & Health Checkup support to a leprosy affected Person

Communities co-invest with them and donors by for the programmes, deciding and implementing them. They involve Community Based Organizations (CBOs), PRI, corporates and individuals throughout the world as partners and supporters of integrated development in Bihar.

Mr. Ram Naresh Manjhi (Name Changed) age 38 Years is effected by leprosy disease. He belongs to Chandi, Dist.- Nalanda. He is the poorest of the poor class and belongs to Schedule Cast family . He is separated by family and society due to leprosy disease . It is due to myths and misconception concerning leprosy at the society . Hence he get a secondary status in family and community and main reason is social myths . There is false believe that it is incurable disease. When organization people visited they see A young youth Mr. Ram Naresh Manjhi as help less , than further decided for support. They provided Self Care Training and health Checkup and also trained on life style as life skill . The organization also brought him to the Primary Health Centre and provided complete proper treatment . He is getting continuous health check up and treatment. It results his condition has improved and developed self confidence and leading a prosperous life . The organization sensitization efforts has minimized myths and misconception in the community. , there is favorable change in community believe concerning leprosy patient . Now believe developed that it is curable if having proper treatment. After health treatment & Self Care Training health status of Mr. Ram Naresh Manjhi has also improved . He is also started getting support from family and society . He is living a healthy and prosperous life. He extend his thanks to SUGAM JAGRITI, Donors and The Global Giving Foundation for changing his life. He say without support it was impossible for him to lead a normal life.

They provided Self Care Training and health Checkup and also trained on life style as life skill . The organization also brought her to the Primary Health Centre and provided complete proper treatment . He is getting continuous health check up and treatment. It results his condition has improved and developed self confidence and leading a prosperous life . The organization sensitization efforts has minimized myths and misconception in the community. , there is favorable change in community believe concerning leprosy patient. He extends his thanks to Donor, SUGAM JAGRITI and The Global Giving Foundation for changing his life. He say without support it was impossible for him to lead a normal life.

Organisation is working on betterment of leprosy affected persons. The support has improved means as a leprosy affected person is completely ignore by family and society. Society and even family members hesitate to sit with a Leprosy affected person. A leprosy affected person live in very miserable condition. We are working on behavior changing of community.
