We can't "contain" our excitement!
Our biggest project news is that a 40-foot container was filled to the brim and sent by container ship to Panama in late February. That is twice the size we originally planned to send! The container arrived in Panama City on March 12th. Thanks to some very dedicated volunteers in Panama, the contents of the container were unloaded and transported to El Naranjal for storage (where they will stay until the donation distribution trip occurs). Photos from the loading and unloading of the container are included in this report. For more details, and to see updates for our other projects, click here.
To Panama, or Bust!
Now that the donations are safely in Panama, we have turned our focus to raising the remaining funds for the distribution portion of the project. Due to complications introduced by the peak rainy season in Panama, our goal is to raise the funds in time to conduct the donation trip by August, 2014. To help boost fundraising efforts, we are pleased to be participating in a Bonus Day on the GlobalGiving website. For today only (5/7/2014), your donation will be matched at 30% by GlobalGiving. Matching funds will run out, so if you are able to give, please donate early in the day.
Make the mom(s) in your life smile, too. Make a gift donation in their name(s) during today’s (May 7th) Bonus Day and make your gift do more good. Matching began at 9 am EDT, so hurry and send Mom a gift that is sure to make her smile.
Your support has helped us get this far, and we hope that you will continue to support LARN as we work to complete this project. Your support can come in many forms. You can share information about LARN, this project, and the May 7 Bonus Day with your network of family, friends, and colleagues to help us grow our network of supporters. If you are a member of Facebook, we invite you to “like” our page and “share” our status updates and photos, especially during today's Bonus Day. You can also provide an in-kind donation from our wish list or shop to give. Of course, as we work to fund the distribution portion of this project, financial contributions are also welcomed.
