1. Project DISHA:

DISHA (Diabetes Interaction Support Health and Achievement).

Beneficiaries: Type I diabetes [Insulin dependent] children and youth.

Childhood type 1 [insulin dependent] diabetes is a life long, life threatening, incurable and ever painful and crippling disability – the most common chronic childhood disorder world over, including India.  Insulin is life saving for these children and youth, and insulin is as important as oxygen and water for their survival.  Without insulin injections taken several times a day, these children die within a day or two.   Thus, insulin becomes their fundamental birth right, and the government and society have mandatory obligation to ensure that all poor and needy children with Type 1 [insulin dependent] diabetes of India, receive insulin FREE of cost, and that no child will die due to unaffordability of this life saving gift of God.

The highlights of Project DISHA, include:

FREE Childhood Diabetes Clinic,

FREE Insulin and supplies for every child,

Insulin PLUS Education”: where in possible financial support is provided for their formal school and college education, towards making these youngsters proud and productive citizens of the nation.

Beneficiaries will be economically underprivileged children and youth with type 1 [insulin dependent] and other forms of diabetes [onset before age 18 to 24 years] and their families. Insulin and all round support need to be provided till age 24 years [or ideally till they are able to become self – reliant [ie obtain education and employment, and earn livelihood for themselves, and hopefully their families]. FREE supplies, support and care need to be provided to unaffordable children / families below poverty line [BPL].

Currently 300 children and youths are beneficiaries of the project. 3000 and more are benfited from the project since inception.

2. Project DOSTI
