The NCPA Foundation provides disaster relief grants to independent community pharmacies across the United States during their most critical moments. These pharmacies often serve as the sole healthcare access point in their communities, making their survival not just important, but essential for patients who depend on them. Even modest financial support can mean the continuity of care, particularly for pharmacies serving as their community's only healthcare provider.
Earlier this year, when tornadoes devastated pharmacies in Rolla, Missouri and Cave City, Arkansas, both had to move to temporary locations. A grant from the NCPA Foundation helped with expenses associated with relocation, thereby helping to ensure the pharmacy could continue to serve the community.
In Pottsboro, Texas, a storm blew off the roof of a pharmacy, resulting in water damage. The pharmacy adapted by operating drive-thru service only for a month during repairs. Then, as roof restoration neared completion, a second storm struck, damaging the roof again. The NCPA Foundation gave the pharmacy a grant to help with the expenses of a new roof, to help ensure the success of the pharmacy so the community can continue to have its preferred healthcare access.
These interventions underscore the NCPA Foundation's unwavering commitment to preserving healthcare access to all communities. With severe weather patterns intensifying across the United States, the Foundation anticipates increased demand for emergency assistance in the coming months.
