Gifting good Education will inturn gift good life!

Education is a fundamental right of every child, which is essential for their growth and development. The importance of education cannot be overstated, as it enables children to acquire knowledge, skills, and values that are necessary for their personal and social development. However, despite the recognition of education as a basic right, millions of children worldwide are still deprived of their right to education.

Importance of Right to Education for Children

The right to education for children is essential for their overall development and growth. Education equips children with the knowledge, skills, and values that are necessary to lead a productive and fulfilling life. It also empowers them to make informed choices, exercise their rights, and participate in the development of their communities. Education is also a powerful tool for reducing poverty, promoting gender equality, and creating opportunities for sustainable development.

Challenges in Tribal Education

Education is one of the primary agents of transformation towards development.
Education is in fact, an input not only for economic development of tribes but also for inner strength of the tribal communities which helps them in meeting the new challenges of life.
- Medium of Instruction: Language has been the biggest constraints in tribal education. All the curriculum and teachers module are designed in official/regional language which is alien for tribal student.
- Economic Condition: The economic condition of tribal people is so poor that they do not desire to spare their children or their labour power and allow them to attend schools.
- Teacher Absenteeism: In the remote tribal areas the teacher absenteeism is a regular phenomenon and this affects largely the quality of education.
- Attitude of the Parents: As education does not yield any immediate economic return, the tribal parents prefer to engage their children in remunerative employment which supplements the family income.
- Infrastructural Challenges: Most of the schools located in tribal areas have minimal infrastructural facilities. These schools are not equipped with teaching learning materials, study materials, even minimum sanitary provisions are not maintained.

We are giving evening tuitions for children and providing them with good nutrition as well. Initially we have taken up only 50 kids and based on supports we have a plan to extend it to maximum number of children. Together we can bring mighty changes in education of Children.

Thank you all for your continued supports for us.

Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve is a protected area and tiger reserve in the Eastern Ghats in the Erode District of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

The present study focuses on livelihood issues of Uraly tribes which is one of the thirty-six tribal communities in Tamil Nadu. The tribal populace is one of the most underprivileged communities in various social, economic and other factors in India. The problem of survival has become a major concern of tribal communities in the current scenario. Despite numerous initiatives for the welfare of these communities, tribal communities still stand at the lowest end of the country's socioeconomic ladder.

Number of Households - 93994

Population - 327441

Male Population - 164469 (50.23%)

Female Population -162972 (49.77%)

Children Population - 29793

Area - 2271.88 km2

Population density/km - 2144

P Arun, a Class VIII student from the tribal hamlet of Onnakarai in Erode district is ready for school at 7.15am every day, but he never heads out alone. Arun waits for his friends to join him before beginning the arduous 6km trek through the forest road winding along the Western Ghats. The group reaches school at Kongadai village by 9am, just in time for class. “I have stopped walking alone after an elephant chased me once two years ago,” says Arun.

In the absence of proper public transportation, private van operators fleece villagers. “We have to pay 50 for a trip on the private van,” says S Gomathi. Coming from a family of daily wage labourers, Gomathi, or for that matter none of the students can afford the fare. The threat of elephants and bears students keeps away villagers from the roads in the evenings and early hours.

During our recent visit with PSR Trust to Sathyamangalam, we gave books and started evening tuitions for nearly 100 Children. This will encourage them to continue their studies and grow up in life. For first generation of school going children all these are new and their interest in learning is vast. Thank you for all the supports that you all give to encourage these Children. During our next visit we have planned to give footwear, because most of them don't have one. We are also conducting a medical camp for children. Thank you all for supporting us to help children with Nutrition and Education.

How we can give Equality in health and education

Help us in encouraging their talents.

People in Tribal Community are not able to reach basic facilities like Health and Education. As said earlier, according to them the mountain or hill is everything for them, we have seen people who have not came out of it, they live there starting from their birth until death. Though, their traditional practices are there still, for a general pregnancy check-up they travel upto 30 to 40 kilometres. There are women who die due to lack of treatment during delivery/birth process.

On aspect of Education, the same problem prevails. Education is not accessible, especially Girl Children. Girls who have completed schooling are countable and boys who have completed a degree are countable. This is the time Children and their families have realized education is important for an individual.

Lots of awareness is needed for them, volunteers enaging and including them is most necessary at this period. Many volunteers are interested in spending time with them and also they can learn about the traditional culture and practices. And camps are being planned in setting up the schools like painting the walls, teaching children basics, science classes, and a lot more.

We have started with Education support, but would like to continue and do a lot in Health too. Each Child has the right for accessible health and education. With all your helps, we have started small initiatives in 2 hills. Looking forward to reach maximum number of people.

Next ideas:

1. Increase the number of supportive volunteers

2. Small education utilities for 100+ Children

3. Books/Note books/Guide books are planned to be distributed

4. Setting up library for one most deserving selected village.

these are our goals for next quarter, thank you for your supports until now and keep supporting to achieve equality among children in Tribal communities.
