By Francesco Bucci | Tukuy Pacha director
Cristian is 19 years old: he comes from a remote area of Bolivia and has come to Cochabamba to train as a secondary school teacher. He has enrolled in the Teacher Training School of Paracaya, located about 50 km from the city, choosing to specialize in philosophy, with the aim of providing guidance and teaching to young people.
Due to a disability he has had since birth, Cristian uses a wheelchair. His adaptation to Paracaya has not been easy: the infrastructure of the school is located on a slope at the foot of a mountain range and presents challenges for accessibility. However, the young man has not given up, and has also found support from the educational community: working together with administrative staff, students and some teachers, the school is progressively making architectural modifications such as ramps and sliding walkways to make the infrastructure more accessible to Cristian and other people with reduced mobility.
A teacher from the school knocked on Tukuy Pacha's door, explaining that Cristian's wheelchair, already worn out from use, needed to be replaced urgently. So, thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide the young man with a reinforced wheelchair model, which allows him to move around the campus safely. That's why we send you, on behalf of Cristian and the educational authorities of the Paracaya Teachers Training School, a sincere thank you.
