In October 2023, Dr Carole Sharma, the chair of Nepal Village Foundation UK visited the disability group in Nepal along with Amy Richardson and Krit Sharma. There, we discussed about circumstances of disabled people in the community, challenges they are facing and a possible way to help them out. We have found out that majority of disabled people are living in poor condition and lack a carer. The disability allowance that they received from the government is not adequate to cover the cost of living.
The challenges that they also face is mobility, access to appropriate medical care, specialist equipment and aids. Helping them with mobility alone will solve many challenges and allow them to do lots more with their life. Hence, Nepal Village Foundation has setup a specific fundraising page to help the disabled group. Even a small donation can make a big difference in Nepal so please give what you can afford.
Since Oct 2023, the disabled group has celebrated ‘The International Day of Disability’ on Sunday the 3rd of December 2023 to strengthen their unity, raise awareness about the cause and also manged to provide a jacket to forty-five disabled person who really needed it to keep themselves warm as the winter is getting worse.
