The Disability Awareness for 250 Families in Yobe project is designed to address the stigma, misinformation, and social exclusion experienced by children with disabilities and their families in rural communities. The project has a total funding goal of $3,000, with the budget intended to support disability-rights training for 250 families, community awareness activities, advocacy, and linkages to healthcare and education services. According to the current GlobalGiving project page, $0 has been raised toward the $3,000 goal, meaning the project currently has a $3,000 funding gap and has not yet received any recorded donations through the platform.
Despite the absence of project funding so far, the planned intervention remains highly relevant, with the potential to directly equip 250 families with knowledge about disability rights, caregiving, advocacy, and available services. The project is expected to benefit more than 1,000 children and siblings in the longer term by helping families challenge harmful misconceptions and improve access to education, healthcare, and protection. Mobilizing the required $3,000 remains the immediate priority to enable implementation of the planned activities and begin delivering measurable benefits to vulnerable families in Yobe.
