The Direct Social Support Service provides personalized psychosocial assistance to pregnant women and mothers facing poverty, insecurity, and social vulnerability. Many seek help first for essential baby items, but deeper needs emerge-housing, employment, training, or emotional support. Through individual plans, counselling, and referrals, the project promotes stability, autonomy, and better living conditions for mothers and their families.
Pregnant women and mothers facing poverty, unemployment, unstable housing, or lack of support often arrive at Ajuda de Mae seeking basic essentials. As the follow-up progresses, deeper needs emerge: social vulnerability, lack of training, undocumented status, isolation, and difficulty accessing health, childcare, or employment-especially among immigrant mothers.
The project offers individualized psychosocial support, counselling, and crisis intervention. Each mother receives a personalized life plan focused on parental, personal, and social skills. Staff provide referrals to internal programs and community services, distribute essential goods, and support access to housing, training, employment, and social integration across all local branches.
By strengthening parenting, stability, and autonomy, the project reduces poverty, promotes healthier pregnancies, and supports social and professional reintegration. Families gain confidence and access to services, creating safer environments for children. Long term, it helps break cycles of vulnerability and supports the inclusion of immigrant mothers and their families.
