Our initiative is inspired by the life of Mailane dos Santos, a resident of the Baixa de Areia community, in Igrapiúna, Bahia, who finished her studies at Casa Familiar Rural de Igrapiúna (CFR-I) as an Agribusiness technician.
During her three years at CFR-I, Mailane found a welcoming and meaningful learning environment, describing the institution as a place of peace, where teachers not only teach, but are also friends. His participation in Educational-Productive Projects (PEPs) not only expanded his knowledge in agricultural sciences, but also contributed to increasing his family's income.
Inspired by her experience at CFR-I, Mailane aspires to attend college and open her own business, a mini chocolate factory, a dream she has had since childhood. Despite challenges, such as the lack of basic sanitation in her community, she remains determined and confident in her abilities to overcome obstacles and achieve her goals.
With this project, we intend to replicate the social transformation that occurred in Mailane's life for hundreds of other women from rural communities, who are subject to diverse social vulnerabilities.
