Project Report | Apr 1, 2024
Dignificando Loyola

By Angela Sepulveda | Project Leader

The target population of the project was maintained, people in forced mobility: migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and internally displaced persons.
12 thousand people.
People who are assisted directly record the number of people accompanying them. These numbers are recorded and a sum is made to obtain the number of indirect beneficiaries.

492 people are survivors of gender-based violence; 138 people are older adults.

The mobile teams in Ciudad Juárez and Tapachula were able to carry out information activities for people in forced mobility in public spaces such as shelters, neighborhoods where migrants settle, and public parks. Information was provided about the refugee processes, immigration regularization and access to rights.

Once the needs and vulnerabilities of the people in the field were detected, the mobile teams were able to channel them both to the JRS service offices in Ciudad Juárez and Tapachula, as well as to other organizations on the ground based on those needs.
The individualized intervention model is applied in a differentiated manner: in Ciudad Juárez they are observed as a complement to group psychosocial activities when a specific vulnerability is identified. In Tapachula, individual support is even provided continuously in a brief therapy format.
Group accompaniment is conceived as a space to accompany people through psycho-emotional work tools that contribute to the reconstruction of their life projects.
Workshops were held both with shelters (Ciudad Juárez and Mexico City) and with authorities with the purpose of strengthening capacities in terms of promotion and protection of the human rights of people in forced mobility.
During the period, meetings were held with municipal authorities in Tapachula and Ciudad Juárez to influence the conditions under which people in forced mobility integrate into the local community.
The advice provided during the duration of the period was developed on the following topics: monitoring of the refuge procedure in Mexico, access to immigration regularization procedures and obtaining identity documents for people in forced mobility.
The guidance provided has focused on filling out immigration paperwork forms and, above all, on guidance on the asylum application procedure in the US through the CBP One application.
