Progress Report
Project Title: Women-Led Telehealth Hubs & SehatSister Initiative, Kasur
Organization: Youth Advocacy Council Pakistan (YAC)
24/04/2026

Youth Advocacy Council Pakistan (YAC) respectfully submits this brief progress update regarding the above-mentioned project. While we regret the delay in reporting, we would like to transparently share the current status, challenges, and initial progress made despite the absence of secured funding from GlobalGiving.

Following the proposal submission, the project has not yet received financial support through the GlobalGiving platform. This has significantly affected the planned timeline for full-scale implementation, particularly the establishment of 10 women-led telehealth hubs and mini-emergency clinics in flood-prone areas of Kasur. However, recognizing the urgent health needs of vulnerable communities especially women and girls, YAC has taken proactive steps to initiate groundwork activities using limited internal resources and local support.

As part of these initial efforts, YAC successfully organized two coordination and consultation meetings with medical professionals and management representatives of Al-Khair Hospital, Kasur. These meetings focused on refining the operational model of the telehealth hubs, identifying priority intervention areas, and exploring technical collaboration for telemedicine services under the proposed SehatSister mobile application. Discussions also included the design of training modules for local female youth and girls who will serve as community-based health responders in future phases of the project.

Preliminary community engagement has been initiated to assess local needs and identify potential beneficiaries and volunteers from flood-affected villages. These early interactions reaffirmed the critical demand for accessible, timely, and women-centered healthcare services, particularly in emergency and flood situations where mobility and access to health facilities remain major barriers.

At present, YAC is actively pursuing alternative fundraising avenues, including outreach to local philanthropists, community donors, and institutional partners. While progress has been challenging due to limited funding opportunities, efforts are ongoing to mobilize the required resources to formally launch and scale the project as envisioned.

Despite these constraints, YAC remains fully committed to the project’s long-term goal of improving access to healthcare for at least 10,000 flood-affected women and girls in Kasur. The organization believes that, once funded, the initiative will play a transformative role in strengthening community resilience, improving maternal and reproductive health outcomes, and ensuring rapid emergency response through trained local health responders and digital health solutions.
