A Digital Future for Every Nigerian Child

Dear TechQuest Partner,

Every child deserves the opportunity to explore, learn, and thrive in today's digital world. Yet, for many children in underserved communities across Nigeria, access to computers, digital education, and essential online safety knowledge remains limited.

At TechQuest STEM Academy, we believe that empowering children with digital skills goes beyond teaching them how to use technology. It means helping them become confident learners, responsible internet users, and creative problem-solvers who can navigate an increasingly connected world safely.

Thanks to your continued generosity, our Digital Skills and Online Safety for Nigerian Children Project is helping turn this vision into reality.

Our Progress: Building a Foundation for Digital Inclusion

We are pleased to share that, through our digital education efforts, more than 1,000 students have received foundational digital skills training, including children who previously had little or no experience using computers.

For many of these young learners, learning to operate a computer, type on a keyboard, navigate digital applications, and create simple documents represents an important step toward greater educational opportunities. Beyond these technical skills, our approach emphasizes curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Through practical exercises and collaborative learning activities, students are introduced to ways technology can enhance classroom learning, support communication, and encourage independent thinking.

These experiences provide a valuable foundation for continued learning and future participation in Nigeria's growing digital economy.

Creating Safer Digital Experiences for Children

As access to smartphones, computers, and the internet expands, children are increasingly exposed to digital environments that offer both opportunities and risks. This makes online safety education an essential part of our mission.

Our project emphasizes five important areas:

Digital Literacy: Equipping children with fundamental computer skills and the confidence to use digital tools effectively.
Online Privacy and Security: Teaching learners to protect personal information, create strong passwords, and recognize potentially unsafe online interactions.
Cyberbullying Awareness: Helping students understand online harassment, practise respectful digital communication, and know when to seek support.
Responsible Internet Use: Encouraging positive online behaviour, safe browsing habits, and thoughtful engagement with digital content.
Digital Critical Thinking: Introducing children to ways of identifying misleading information and evaluating the reliability of online resources.

By combining practical digital education with online safety awareness, we aim to ensure that children are not only equipped to use technology but also understand how to protect themselves and others while doing so.

Although we still have a considerable funding gap to close, we remain committed to our vision of ensuring that no child is left behind because of limited access to digital learning opportunities.

Our next ambition is to extend digital literacy and online safety education to an additional 1,000 children across underserved communities in Nigeria.

To achieve this, we are seeking further support to provide computers, instructional materials, practical learning resources, and facilitated training sessions. We also hope to strengthen online safety awareness among young learners, helping them understand that responsible technology use is just as important as acquiring digital skills.

With additional funding and sustained partnerships, we can reach more schools, create meaningful learning experiences, and help more children develop the skills needed to participate confidently in the digital world.

Building Nigeria's Future Through Digital Skills

Dear TechQuest Partner,

Thank you for being a valued partner in our mission to equip Nigerian children with the digital knowledge they need to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world. Your generosity continues to make meaningful opportunities possible for students who have limited access to digital learning.

Together with 71 other generous supporters, you have helped raise $6,401 toward our fundraising goal of $49,800. We still need $43,399 to fully implement this initiative and extend its impact to more underserved schools across Nigeria.

Because of your support, we have successfully trained more than 1,000 students in foundational digital skills. Many of these students had little or no previous exposure to computers, making this experience a significant milestone in their educational journey.

Throughout the program, students are introduced to the fundamentals of computer use. They learn how to properly start and shut down a computer, confidently use a mouse and keyboard, navigate basic software applications, and create, edit, and save simple digital documents. These practical lessons provide the confidence and skills needed to engage with technology both inside and outside the classroom.

Learning goes beyond theory. Students actively participate in interactive classroom exercises where they complete digital assignments, collaborate with classmates on simple projects, and explore creative ways technology can support their learning. These hands-on experiences make digital tools approachable while strengthening problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

One of the most exciting outcomes has been the growing enthusiasm for STEM education. As students become more comfortable using technology, they are asking thoughtful questions, exploring new ideas, and beginning to see how digital skills can help solve everyday challenges and create future career opportunities.

Our Digital Skills and Online Safety for Nigerian Children Project continues to focus on students attending public and low-fee-paying schools by:

Building essential digital literacy skills.
Encouraging safe and responsible internet use.
Teaching students how to safeguard their personal information online.
Raising awareness about cyberbullying and online harassment.
Helping learners identify reliable online information and recognize misinformation.

In today's connected world, digital safety is just as important as digital literacy. Students are therefore taught practical strategies for protecting themselves online, recognizing unsafe digital interactions, and developing responsible online habits that will serve them throughout their lives.

Looking ahead, our goal is to extend this opportunity to another 1,000 students who currently lack access to quality digital education. Achieving this will require raising the remaining $43,399, which will fund additional training sessions, computers, instructional materials, and classroom resources for participating schools.

Building Digital Futures for Girls in Nigeria

We sincerely thank you for your steadfast support in advancing digital literacy among children. Your generous contributions to the Digital Skills and Online Safety for Nigerian Children project are creating real, lasting change in the lives of public school students, laying the foundation for a brighter, more empowered future.

Thanks to your support and that of 71 other donors, we have raised $6,401 toward our goal of $49,800, with $43,399 still needed to reach our target. Your support is helping us bring essential digital learning opportunities to students who would otherwise have little or no access to technology education.

We’re proud to share that our program has now successfully reached over 1,000 students, providing them with foundational digital skills that are critical in today’s world. Through structured classroom and practical sessions, students are learning how to start and shut down a computer, use a mouse and keyboard effectively, navigate basic software applications, and create and save their work. These lessons help students build confidence and familiarity with technology at an early stage.

Students also participate in hands-on digital learning activities where they practice creating simple documents and presentations, work together in small groups to complete assignments, and explore how technology can be used for learning and creativity. These practical sessions make technology less intimidating and help students see how digital tools can support their education.

Beyond basic digital literacy, your support has inspired a growing interest in STEM learning among students. Many learners are showing curiosity about how technology works and how it can be used to solve real-life problems. Through guided instruction and classroom discussions, students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and think creatively about the role technology can play in their future.

The Digital Skills and Online Safety Project specifically targets students in public and low-fee-paying schools, with a strong focus on:

Enhancing digital literacy
Promoting safe and responsible internet use
Teaching students how to protect their identities online
Addressing cyberbullying and online harassment
Empowering students to evaluate and verify online content

Students are also learning important online safety practices, including how to recognize unsafe online behavior, protect personal information, and use the internet responsibly. These lessons are essential in helping young learners safely navigate the digital world.

As we continue to expand this life-changing initiative, our next goal is to reach at least 1,000 more students who currently lack access to digital learning opportunities. To achieve this, we aim to raise an additional $43,399 to support training sessions, learning materials, and access to computers for participating schools.
