Thank you, donor, for making it possible for many girls from lower-income families to be reached and equipped with skills, information, and resources to achieve their potential and in turn be change agents in their communities.
In February 2023, the Foundation commenced the delivery of its sexuality and gender-based violence (SGBV) training to 376 girls in 13 senior secondary schools across Lagos State in Nigeria. As of the time of this report, the training sessions had been delivered in 12 of the 13 schools and nearly 350 girls had been equipped with the knowledge of how to protect themselves against sexual abuse and gender-based violence, and of what to do in cases of abuse. We are excited about the program's impact on the girls and its broader impact on their communities.
In preparation for the commencement of the SHE Life and Leadership (SLL) Program to our 6th cohort of Girls, a Train the Trainer(ToT) Program was also delivered to newly recruited volunteer trainers, with six of them onboarded into the Foundation’s volunteer program. Our pool of reliable and committed young women who are dedicated to the cause of girl-child empowerment is growing and we are excited about the impact of their service in the lives of the girls that we will be serving in the coming days. The Volunteer ToT was delivered in August.
Up to 450 girls are expected to be reached through the SLL program expected to commence in October. SLL equips girls in public high schools with essential soft skills and life skills.
