Thank you, donor! Through your donations, hundreds of girls from economic-disadvantaged families are being reached and provided with the skills, information, and resources to support and sustain learning and development.
Since the beginning of a new school session in 2023, the Foundation’s efforts have been targeted towards addressing issues that hinder learning among teenage girls from low-income families. Some of the prevalent problems among the population of young girls that we serve, and which they are more vulnerable to are early exposure to sex and risky sexual behaviors, sexual abuse, and teenage pregnancy.
The Foundation designed an intervention process and has delivered sexuality education modules in seven public senior secondary schools in Lagos State, Nigeria. The modules cover topics on rights, types of abuse, how to identify abuse, risks of early sex, how to protect against sexual violence, and what to do in cases of sexual abuse.
The sessions with the girls are highly interactive and feature role-playing, games, and a question-and-answer session. Light refreshments are also served towards the end of the session. Over 200 girls have participated in the sexuality education program and many more will be reached as the program progresses.
