Greetings to our supporters and friends. 20 more Children have requested helps.Unfortunately we have no happy news to share with you about work to restore disabled children to a normal life, since we did not receive any new donations to pay for the therapies and equipment needed. In addition, GlobalGiving has run into a problem with its disbursement of funds in India, and has had to suspend payment to all its Indian partners until they can resolve the issue with the government. Because this has impacted many of our programs, we have little extra cash or staff time to spare.

Nonetheless, we have been able to continue, on a limited basis, our survey to identify other disabled children in need of help, and to provide information and assistance for applying for available government services. Although it may be a few months before we are able to receive disbursement of any new donations, giving now is still important, since it will let the children we are hoping to help, and their families, know that they have not been forgotten. Just $50 will buy a hearing aid for 10-year-old Leena that will allow her to do well in school and make new friends, and $100 will buy a wheelchair for Visuki, who has cerebal palsy and now must be carried everywhere. We are hopeful that whatever we receive in new donations will allow us to receive a microloan for purchase of the needed equipment, which we will be able to repay when the GlobalGiving disbursement is received. We appreciate so much your past support, and look forward to being able to send more positive news in our next report.

On Sunday, with support from our co-sponsor, the directors of Manitham Trust, we celebrated World Disability Day with an all-day program designed to inspire and empower differently abled children.

Almost 50 children participated in 5 competitions: rangoli design, ball throwing, musical chairs, memorization, and singing, with prizes awarded to the winners in each category. Dr. Mahesh Rajagopal, founder of the Aram Hospital in Trichy, gave the keynote address, which focused on having the confidence to excel.

After having worked hard for several weeks to organize this event, I was honored to participate in the ceremonies and thrilled to see the joy the activities brought the children. We are proud to have been able to offer them a day of fun and inspiration.

Thank you for believing in these children and giving them your support --

Janet Preethy

Yogeshwari with her parents

While continuing the survey of Children with disabilities we found these Children require emergency help. They are Children of daily wage parents and not able to afford further helps. So, they requested VOICE Trust for help, aids, and appliances.

Yogeswari is 6 years old and she is affected with Learning Disability. She was affected with this because her mother got fever at 6 months when the child was in the womb. She did not take care of herself and that affected the Child. We can give training that would support her to identify objects and communicate. She is affected with 60% of disability which can be reduced after regular treatments. Initially, her parents request for identifying objects and later on for medical expenses.

Leena is 10 years old and studying in a Government school. She is not able to hear. Though, she has support now. That is often getting repaired. And her parents request for an advanced featured machine. She misses many classes because her aid is not in good condition. She studies well but her mental health is affected and regular counseling will bring back her to normal stage.

Vasika is 6 years old, she is the second child of the family. She is affected with Cerebral Palsy. Her mother did not take nutritious food during her pregnancy and this was the reason she is affected. She is unable to walk and they request for wheelchair and physiotherapy treatments.

These 3 Children can be brought back to normalcy with your help.

A 4-year girl Child, Yasmin was identified while conducting a survey in the village regarding differently abled Children. She is first Child for her parents and she was a normal Child in her mother's womb. But during delivery doctors used instruments and her head was pressed hard, her nervous system got affected and she was unable to walk.

But, doctors and physiotherapist suggested that these aids and appliances would help her in balancing and walking. So, we contacted Jayam ortho care and Mr. Tamilselvan, physiotherapist took measurements and designed a new supporting instrument for her.

On behalf of Yasmin's parents and all in VOICE Team thanks for helping Children like Yasmin to recover and bring back them to normalcy.

YASMIN WILL WALK SOON AND IT IS BECAUSE OF YOU.

We will produce the list of Children who need our help in our next report.
