March 2023 India Breast Cancer screening update

By Marissa Fayer | CEO of HERhealthEQ

Our GlobalGiving Fundraiser to bring affordable early screening to women in Northern India is still open for donations. We need to fund this project before we launch it.

We have soft launched in October 2021 and the first pilot systems have been deployed. This project is still critical for the continued health of women in India. Non-communicable diseases (which include breast cancer) cause an 80% increase in adverse effects such as hospitalization and death from COVID-19. The health of the world needs to continue the fight against NCD’s for our continued health against this pandemic and those in the future.

Our aim is to screen over 100,000 women during the 2-year implementation of this program (and for many years to come) with 30 portable devices being dispatched into 3 tier-2 cities in India. Women in India are not able to seek the education for self-breast exams, follow up for screening and treatment due to a lack of infrastructure, technology and access…. Our project will change that.

Our program trains and equips local providers and health entrepreneurs that will offer screening at reasonable cost at locations that are near women in each region. HERhealthEQ aims to ensure that more women have a chance of early breast cancer detection and successful treatment outcomes. Community healthcare screening does not exist currently in India, we are working to change that.

This campaign will remain open until the goal is met. If we can secure 220 new donors, contributing $100 to our fundraiser we will meet our goal. Information dissemination is key to bringing awareness to both our platform and our cause, ensuring the most women can benefit from this equipment and the program can bring education, awareness, screening to combat the rates of Breast Cancer in Northern India.
