Centro La Milagrosa is the host of " Preescolar Padre Miguel Gonzalez", the only preschool in a 1,500 km2 area. Run by Asociacion Damas Salesianas, this center provides quality education and nutritional support to children aged 3-6, belonging to over 35 Indigenous and Creole communities located in the far south of Venezuela, in Maniapure.
Given Maniapure's limited accessibility and its rural setting, there is a significant deficit in educational services and nutritional assessments. Without a preschool, these children face the danger of illiteracy. Additionally, early childhood remains a critical time to promote the integral development of the child, and therefore, of the human being, which cannot be done without proper nutrition and continuous stimulation.
We offer a safe learning environment with academic education for primary school readiness. We also foster personal growth for integral development and community engagement towards education. Our nutritional program includes the making of dietary plans considering the available crops and food items by an expert. Additionally, our students receive a nutritional assessment, which alongside the meals helps battle malnutrition and monitor emergent conditions that may impact this aspect of health.
Providing an adequate stimulation space and resources for Maniapure's Children will directly impact their cognitive functioning and their sense of responsibility towards the community. This last aspect is enhanced by our Parents' School, which promotes co-responsibility and helps caregivers stay updated on relevant child-care aspects. Finally, this center will contribute to closing the educational gap by providing Indigenous People and rural communities, especially girls, with formal education.
