Uttar Pradesh is amongst three of India's least developed states, where indicators on the education, health and safety of adolescent girls aged 10-19 years reveal an especially dire situation.51% girls are married before 19 years and 30% before 18 years. It shows extent of risks associated with life pattern and aspiration of majority of adolescent at their formative age. Gender disparity on education is by 20%.
Integrated micro planning approach to engage adolescent girls, community volunteers and frontline functionaries to identify their issues and needs, analyze reasons to develop realistic solutions, evolve implementation mechanisms. Integrated slum planning will be conducted over a period of five days per slum to set stage for community based implementation and convergence process on outcome indicators . Community volunteers and adolescent girls groups will play lead role .
It will facilitate empowerment of adolescent girls by positioning and improving their conditions through systematic engagement of families, peers, communities and schools through community based micro planning and implementation systems, social and behavior change communication, life skills development and enhancing demand and access to public service provisions.
