We're partnering with Haitian company Deux Mains to provide school shoes for all 200 kids in our program! Each pair is $39. Beyond footwear, this supports local manufacturing and shows our students what's possible when businesses grow in Haiti. We're so inspired by what Deux Mains has accomplished, and we're excited for our kids to learn from them when they visit to teach about leather and shoe-making. In Haiti, only 15% of the population has full-time employment, making it incredibly difficult for families to afford the essentials they need to thrive. At the same time, every student is required to have proper school shoes to complete their uniform and attend class. Deux Mains offers a powerful solution: shoes that not only meet local uniform standards, but are also made in a Fair Trade-certified factory-supporting both education and job creation in Haiti.
This program addresses two urgent challenges at once: lack of access to school shoes and limited local employment opportunities. By partnering with Deux Mains, we're ensuring that 200 students receive the durable, uniform-approved shoes they need to attend school consistently and confidently. At the same time, we're supporting Haitian-made products and job creation through a Fair Trade-certified factory-investing not just in our students' education, but in Haiti's economic future.
