Due to the positive result of dengue prevention program in 2022, the program expand its coverage to Bangkok, Samutprakarn, Tak, Mae Hong Son while Srakaew and Burirum where found emerging of dengue numbers. In 2023, CCF develops “The KEEPs model” the STEM healthcare on Dengue prevention and control. KEEPs model works closely with the school, the community leaders, and local health post and hospitals, and comprises 3 steps including 1) KEEP inform 2) KEEP Action 3) KEEP Support. 2,337 Students were trained “knowledge” and “practice”. The participants were able to learn through information, observation, and by doing. The program uses the different training materials for school children and community villagers such as flip charts and visual aids, this paper is a modest contribution to the ongoing development of training materials used for health education.
After training 85% of the participants pass the evaluation. 50 Students were volunteered to be youth leaders to share their knowledge to community villagers. 2,386 community villagers were trained. They conducted 20 times of Big Cleaning Day. The students conduct “Dengue Prevention Advocacy Day” March 2024. The students walked around the community with information board to share the information and build awareness to the community. This advocacy walk will conduct again in 15 June 2024. The student created the innovation to prevent the dengue fever by using STEM concept such as candle (using local herb) as mosquitoes repelling, mosquitoes’ repellent balm, and building pond for Gambusia Affinis Fish or Mosquito Fish. Regular check and control of mosquito breeding grounds with acceptable indices monthly. 5 health ambassadors on Dengue prevention and control were selected in each school.
The program creates “Kid-D the Hero” e-book which provides information about dengue fever, its symptoms, global distribution, and prevention measures with challenging activities to get better understanding. The content of the e-book was supported and approved by the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health. E-book will be distributed to 2,200 schools and 200 communities along with dengue fever prevention activity. 5 schools will be established as a learning hub with at least 2 qualified moderators in each school.
