Project Report | May 23, 2017
Alex's mornings

By Marek Chalany | Project Coordinator

Alin's preparation
Alin's preparation

Alex is a young man who is 20 years old. He's my son and he's autistic. Alino does not speak (just a few simple words) and he can not live alone. Alino is my great love. I live with him alone.

Ali always does not want to get up. But as he has to go to school we fight at least an hour every morning. As soon as I come to wake him, he hardly opens my eyes and tells me that "I am not going anywhere!" Then he hides under the blanket and acts like he is not in the room. So I start to motivate him, which is not easy every day. When he eventually climbs out of his bed, he moves to the couch in the living room, rests lightly and repeats the ritual of persuasion. He does not like the TV show "Breakfast with Markiza" so it is a signal to him that he must get up and go to school finally. So he is mad and looking for the remote control. But it is well hidden. The game continues:)

As if it was not enough, sometimes he play that he can not get dressed, an activity that he can do very well normally. He is a big joker. I have to pay great attention to him:)

New man

When we get to school, Alino is in a good mood. He is happy, he gives me a kiss and cheerfully jumps into his class. Morning ritual at home is not at all because he does not like it at school. Alino just decided that should be the form of his mornings and it would not be otherwise anymore.

It's half past eight in the morning and I'm going to work. I feel like i had worked one shift today already.

And because of these mornings, it is a great help for me when an assistant from the Autistic Center Andreas comes to pick up Alex from school, he makes up a program, and he's easy with him. Alino often stops at the Andreas center from where they go to school together in the morning. Alino likes it very much in the Andreas center and he behaves calmly. And I'm happy he's fine and I can get some rest.
