Andreas: Help for Autistic Families in Slovakia

by Pontis Foundation Vetted since 2012

Most parents of autistic children spend all their free time by taking care of their children. This special type of care is needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is very exhausting. The main goal of project is to ensure professional caring for autistic children in our autistic centre Andreas. During the weekend parents have a chance to relax and gain new strength. $3 are hourly wage of social worker in Andreas. Give parents the opportunity to gain a new power.

Autistic children require constant attention. Their parents spend all their free time (after work, during the weekend or holiday) by taking care of kinds. They cannot ask their parents, relatives, friend to help them - the autistic kinds need special treatment. The lack of rest has very negative impact on health and psychological well-being of parents. Most of them do not have anyone to ask for help.

Andreas - autistic centre is opened only during a week, they do not provide a daycare during weekend. By supporting this project, the Centre will be able to ensure wage for social workers taking care of autistic kinds. The parents could spend their free time actively, without any doubts how are doing their kids.

Long-Term Impact

A day care for autistic children is challenging. Their problem behavior is very exhaustive. We dont want to ensure only one free weekend for their parents to take a rest. Professional day care for autistic children includes various individual and collective activities which support and improve independence of these children.
