I feel that we are in good hands - education-behavioral therapy in Autistic Center Andreas

During stays in Autistic Center Andreas we offer younger children with autism the possibility of education-behavioral therapy (intervention), which is based on ABA. This therapy focuses on developing communication, cognitive abilities, social skills and games and its basic principle is encouraging appropriate behavior.

‘‘There is hardly any worse moment in human life than to realize that your child is not developing properly. The next big shock is to find out that help is only available after several months in the better case, or 6 months and perhaps more in the worse scenario. In the case of young children with special needs, the waiting period to determine the diagnosis and the ensuing intervention is disturbingly long.

Establishments such as Autistic Center Andreas must expand to meet the ever increasing demand for their services. The extremely long waiting period is a testament to an unbalanced supply and demand. As a parent, I am very privileged and grateful that my daughter can regularly visit this highly specialized institution - Andreas.

I feel that we are in good hands. The therapy was custom tailored to my daughter’s strengths and weaknesses and is improving the quality of her own life as well as our family’s. Professional therapists in the Center also take the time to organize seminars and workshops to educate us, parents about autism.

In Andreas, we were met with truly the required quality of equipment and care from the personnel. For this, we would be delighted to see their service further develop in the future especially for the satisfaction of the parents of children with special needs.’’

- Written by a mother of a child enrolled in the program of Autistic Center Andreas

The project ‘‘For parents without parents’’ provides various kinds of leisure activities for children with autism including therapy. One session (50 minutes) of education-behavioral intervention costs €17.00. Thank you for your contributions.
