Our Blue Universe

Changes of Perception

On the World Autism Day an exhibition of paintings and photographs created by young people with autism will be held in the European Parliament in Strasburg due to Jana Zitnanská’s invitation who is a member of the European Parliament. The exhibition called “Our Blue Universe” will take place from the 26th to the 28th March 2019.

Some clients from the centre Andreas will take part in the vernissage and one of them will be Peter, a 25 year old young man. Peter has Asperger’s syndrome and he will exhibit a series of photographs called “Changes of Perception”.

“My perception of a photograph and its detail is based on my own perception of the world. I have always been particularly connected to details. Life is a puzzle of many details, we do not capture many times, only if we see it as a whole of passing days. I have always been interested in photographs, mainly the old ones.

I used to browse through photographs from the old family albums. I noticed all the details; I found the structure of paper and the silver surface film of the photographs interesting. When I bought my first camera with the money I found in an old radio, I started to capture life based on my own perception.

I see the photograph as a deep manifestation of the person’s inside, which doesn’t only show the photograph’s perception but also its observation, spiritual depth, sensitivity to see things other people go round without seeing.

In a series called “Changes of Perception” I took photographs of balls in the book and their details. The balls changed the perception of the text in the book and gave the book a new dimension. In the form of kaleidoscope the abstraction of the text was even more enhanced,” wrote Peter (25), young amateur photographer with Asperger’s syndrome.

The Project For parents without parents offers various freetime activities for children with autism. One hour of art therapy costs 10 eur. Thank you for your donation.
