The Need is Growing - So is Our Response

By Fatima Mohamed | Executive Director

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Since our last update, Sudan’s humanitarian crisis has continued to deepen — and so has our resolve to meet it. Today we are writing with meaningful progress to share, and with a renewed sense of urgency about what lies ahead.

The Crisis Continues — And New Challenges Are Emerging

The scale of suffering in Sudan remains staggering. Over 30 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance, and health facilities continue to operate with little to no medical supplies. But a new and significant development is unfolding on the ground: people are beginning to return home. As some areas see relative improvements in security, displaced Sudanese families are making their way back to their communities — only to find health facilities that are empty, damaged, or barely functioning. The need for medical supplies is not just urgent for those who stayed. It is now equally urgent for those who are coming back.

Where We Stand Today

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors and supporters, we have now raised $16,955 of our $30,000 goal. This is a remarkable leap forward and a testament to the power of community solidarity. Every dollar raised brings us closer to filling a shipment with lifesaving medical supplies destined for health facilities serving conflict-affected and returning communities across Sudan.

We are also thrilled to share that our medical supply partnership application is now in its final stage of approval. Once approved, donated medical supplies will be shipped directly to Sudan through our vetted local implementing partner, who will manage customs clearance, warehousing, and last-mile distribution to health facilities — all completely free of charge to patients.

What We Have Been Doing

While the approval process has been underway, our team has not stood still. SAMA has continued to deliver humanitarian assistance on multiple fronts across Sudan, through our mobile clinic in Tawila, North Darfur, our nutrition and feeding program in Kosti, White Nile State, and our ongoing medical education and capacity building programs through the Dr. Bushra Ibnauf Learning Centers. These programs keep us rooted in the realities on the ground and ensure that when medical supplies arrive, there is a functioning network ready to receive and distribute them.

What Comes Next

We are focused on three priorities:

  • Finalizing the partnership approval so that the first shipment of donated medical supplies can be dispatched to Sudan as quickly as possible.
  • Reaching our $30,000 goal we are more than halfway there, and with your help we can close this gap. Every share, every conversation, and every new donor matters.
  • Reporting back to you with full transparency on what is shipped, what arrives, and who is reached, because you deserve to see your generosity turn into real impact.

A Note of Gratitude

To everyone who has donated, shared this campaign, or simply kept Sudan in their hearts ,Thank you. The Sudanese people are returning home to rebuild their lives, and they should not have to do so without access to basic healthcare. Your support is helping make sure they don’t have to.

We will be back with our next update soon. In the meantime, please keep sharing this campaign , we are so close.

With gratitude and determination,
