It's safe to say that 2020 has been one heck of a rollercoaster. Through it all, Farmer Foodshare has ramped up our efforts to feed local families impacts by COVID-19. In fact, we saw a 235% increase!
With your help, we fed over 30,000 meals to families. The majority of these families were black or brown, with over 60% of the individuals being under the age of 10.
At the onset of the pandemic, Farmer Foodshare was embarking upon the critical task of strategic planning and organizational change to meet our growing community. Simultaneously, we saw an immediate and urgent need for our support in the community as folks were laid off, became sick or were unable to work for various reasons. This community could not have stepped up to support our work at a more opportune time. Your gifts allowed us to exponentially support our community while simultaneously and thoughtfully pivoting our structure and mission within the current and future food system. Our program feeds over 1000 households each week including restaurant workers, COVID 19 patients, elderly, families, and school-aged children. This is a 235% increase from prior to the pandemic.
