Education is the first step to given to children as the power to choose the way of life they want to lead. In RISE, we understand that education gives us knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps children to build opinions and have points of view on things in life. Children in RISE are dealt with extra care and compassion to motivate them towards schooling and learning as their day today routine is already very stressful. Before right to education it was a challenge to bring these children to classrooms as they were an added source of income for their families. But now since the challenge is to maintain quality of education for these children, we in RISE, with gracious support from all over the world through Global Giving are ensuring that these children can face the world and join the race with equal compatibility. In the past quarter, children were engaged in activities related to cleanliness, health & hygiene. Rallies were conducted, WASH workshops were conducted and our children even cleaned and maintained a public part as their contribution In the national movement of cleanliness initiated by our honourable Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi called “Swachhta hi Sewa”. There is an old saying that “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.” It is one of the good human qualities and is a part of civilization. Cleanliness is very important for keeping most of the diseases at bay. Therefore, it is essential to inculcate hygienic habits in children right from early childhood. Inculcating the habit of cleanliness, health and hygiene at early age gives a larger and lasting impact. Apart from being a contributor in national campaign, RISE children also participated in various cultural festivals, they were introduced to the reason, the process and its impact while celebrating various festivals. Children celebrated the festival of janamashtmi , also witnessed International Literacy Day, where not only children but their parents were also called upon at the centres and made aware about importance of education. RISE witnessed Dusshera, festival of lights Deepawali and marked the birth anniversary of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. Each of these events is aimed to be celebrated in a way that children carry the real message behind them and inculcate them in daily life. An example of Kavita, 8 years, coming from an economically struggling family of 8 people, is a hardworking girl, It turns out all she needed was a little extra help in understanding class subjects she had not understood and the teachers in her school had no time to explain to her. The exposure visits and interactive activities in RISE brought out the innate curiosity and habit of learning she had within her. She enthusiastically participates in everything now. After participating in the parents meeting and workshops, her parents also now understand the benefits of education and wow make sure she has enough free time from chores to do her homework and study her lessons. Very importantly Kavita’s parents also feel like they are part of their daughter’s life and progress and are proud of their daughter’s accomplishments and say, “ Kavita is singing new “kavita” of learning in her life and we thank RISE for this.” Although these victories may seem small to the average person, but we know that it’s a small step towards bigger change and keeping the hopes high you are supporting us in this mission. Our children are being prepared towards bigger field of life and in this mission; gracious funders and considerate people like you have also joined us through your small and big contributions. Every penny received from any part of the world is made sure to be reaching to the neediest child and help him or her to RISE above all obstacles towards a dignified and sustainable life. We ensure that the kids are learning and improving new lessons each day and for your ceaseless support we feel deep gratitude.
