Brunch with Brothers Volunteer Effort
In our last report, we disclosed that we were in the early stages of establishing meaningful partnerships with organizations whose missions align with ours. We are proud to share with you in this report that one of those partnerships has already begun to show promise.
The Embrace It program titled "Brunch with Brothers" has continued its steep trajectory of growth and has allowed our team to work with their young men. They have more than thirty (30) young men who are enrolled for mentorship.
Angelina College has been gracious to us in that they have allowed us access to their facilities to work with students who are on campus who are in need of financial literacy and/or apprenticeship training. We believe this partnership will continue to grow.
Stay tuned as we will have more to add once the school year kicks off!

A Shift Toward Sustainable Expansion

Gen A Serving
Generation A is one of the most critical programs within the Legacy Institute for Financial Education. We have sought after strategic partners whose overall goals aligned with ours. Recently, two have surfaced.
The first is our local community college (Angelina College). They are interested in appealing to the community to be their first option for higher education in the absence of scholarships that would take them away from this region. From a financial literacy perspective, we are aligned with them in that goal. We teach that our parents and students should pursue the economically viable choice when choosing which college or university they will attend. What we love about our local community college is that it emphasizes non-credit courses which lead to industry-recognized certifications. For many students, college is simply not for them; a certification would be much more appropriate than pursuing a degree they are disinterested in attaining. As this partnership develops, we will keep our donors informed.
The second partnership in development is with a local nonprofit called Embrace It which has a program for young African-American males between 6th and 12th grade. This program has been able to accomplish what we have not: parental engagement. Rather than trying to recreate the wheel, we have supported them in their efforts and have made the Generation A curriculum available to them.
We are still early in the process of both of these partnerships, but they will allow us to think strategically as to how we can advance our mission in the most effective way possible. Stay tuned and thank you for your support!

21st Century After School Program
To all of our generous donors,
The last two years have been challenging for all of us. As we ended 2020, we all thought that the worst was over with the COVID-19 pandemic, but we were very wrong with that assumption. The Delta variant of 2021 has reminded us of how sensitive the topic is and how maintaining caution in how we operate is essential.
We are proud to announce our partnership with the Lufkin Independent School. We are currently working with over 300 students between the 1st and 5th grades. We are currently teaching them chess as we develop their critical thinking skills. So far, we have been impressed with their ability to learn such a complex game! Our children are brilliant and are sponges for information. Next semester, we will begin to introduce basic financial concepts that can be applied. As they learn to think 2-5 moves ahead in their lives, we believe they will naturally make better financial decisions as they get older. Entrepreneurship concepts will be introduced in the 4th and 5th grades as they prepare to enter our regular Generation A program.
We will have more information as this program develops, but it is surely one of the more visible programs within our organization!
