FSI Nepal will support to provide a quality and free education to the children of migrant laborers in Kathmandu, Nepal to fulfill fundamental right to education in coordination with the ministry of education and school. They will be facilitated with free books, stationery, uniforms and a nutritious mid-day meal for access to free education to stop from being child laborer. Mostly, nutritious mid-day meal will encourage the children to focus on their studies and increase their regular presences.
More than 2500 families in a month are migrated from different remote regions of Nepal to urban area for quality education of children and to earn for better livelihood. About 80 % of them are low income parents and work as wage laborers with monthly income less than $120 in Kathmandu. They are not able to afford costly education and their children often cannot be admitted in school. These children have no option but to leave the school as child laborers before 7 years old.
We will provide free books, stationery, uniforms and nutritious mid-day meal to 200 migrated school children from the fundraising. The healthy meal includes plane rice, vegetable curry, pulses, egg, ghee, fruits, milk etc that consists of proteins, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. This project enables them to continue their study and decrease school dropout during early childhood. Likewise, it will improve their health status and school enrollment process rather than be left in.
These children belong to low wages laborers parents who have to leave early for work. So, they have to go for work with their parent instead of going school with empty stomach. This project will impact basically the children who leave the schools in early childhood. It helps to meet the basic needs of children and continue their education. On feeding 200 children, we ensure regularity in school without worrying about food and education materials. They will survive in society as other children.
