Regrettably we have raised no money for our GlobalGiving project "Darfuris need 150 capacity schools in Djabal, Chad" from February 20 through May 20, 2019. The total amount raised for this project remains $175 US from seven donations made from November 19 to December 19, 2018. Upheaval in Sudan has occupied the Board, our members and the diaspora community we serve since the protests there begain in December 2018, and even more so since the arrest of President Bashir on April 11, 2019. Depsite all this, the Board still wants to pursue the Djabal schools project, and will update donors and the rest of the public via our Facebook page as things progress.
It should be emphasized that regardless who is in power in Khartoum, it will take a very long time to bring order to Darfur; it will be a long while before refugees in Chad will feel safe enough to return. Until then, the Doroti Organization will endeavor to help them as best we can.
