DONALD TRUMP CUTS OFF ALL FOREIGN AID

Thanks to all our donors for helping us diversify our funding enough that we hope to survive this debacle. Our work in all but one refugee camp is safe for the moment. However, our biggest addiction treatment centre in Mae La Refugee Camp has had its funding cut until further notice, by Donald Trump.

We have just started a new Addiction Treatment Cycle in Mae La with nearly 30 clients currently going through detox. We can’t stop. They will be a huge risk for them if we do.

Meanwhile, in Mae La Camp, the hospital has been closed with only oxygen dependent patients remaining in the care of the Camp Committee, who are not health care workers. All the USAID-International Rescue Committee staff on the border have been ordered to stop working and most of them have lost their jobs. Next the electricity and drinking water is going to be stopped and the food supply is at dire risk for 50,000 refugees in Mae La Camp.

For us at DARE Network, we will dig into our reserves to support our camp staff to serve their community and hope that all this madness is rescinded. It is going to take a long time, we fear.

If any of you who are already so kind and supportive of our work have a little more in your pockets feel free to donate to any of our projects on GlobalGiving.

With thanks
The DARE Network Team
