Aislynn and her daughter Lyla, 3 years old, moved to Greece last year for her husband's new job. He had been out of work for a while in the USA and they were struggling financially. Times were tough and her husband was moody and depressed. When he got the job offer in Greece, he became more like the self-assured man Aislynn had married. Aislynn was hopeful things would be better in Greece. They were for a while, until Aislynn joined an international women's club.
Her husband began making derogatory comments about the way she dressed, her hair and her friends. He questioned her whereabouts accusing her of having an affair. He put a tracking device on her car, spyware on her laptop, demanded he see receipts for any money she spent and called her constantly when she was out of the house. Aislynn tried to reason with him. She took her daughter with her everywhere she went - to the grocery store, to the women's club meetings, to the park. How could she be having an affair? But the abuse escalated.
Then one day Aislynn came home. Lyla had fallen asleep in the car so Aislynn carried her into the house and put her to bed. When she walked back into the kitchen her husband physically attacked her in a blind rage.
The next day he apologized, beggin Aislynn to forgive him, promising it would never happen again. The day after, Lyla looked at Aislynn's arm and ran her tiny fingers over the bruises. Lyla didn't say anything. But at that moment Aislynn knew she had to get out.
Aislynn called us and we were able to get her and Lyla out of Greece and back home because of generous donations like yours.
Aislynn and Lyla are living with Aislynn's parents. They are happy and safe. Thank you for caring about battered mothers and their children!
