Project Report: Daily School Lunch Project

Intentional Sister's Keeper Corp

2023/2024

Executive Summary

Intentional Sister's Keeper Corp mission is to eradicate childhood hunger, promote education, and empower women, embarked on the Daily School Feeding Project in 2023/2024. Our goal was to provide five hot lunch meals per week to school children in targeted communities. Despite facing challenges due to poor donations, the project has resulted in increased school attendance and the overall well-being of participating children. This report outlines the project's implementation, outcomes, challenges, and the foundation's commitment to continue this initiative.

Introduction

Background:Intentional Sister's Keeper Corp focuses on addressing childhood hunger, enhancing educational opportunities, and empowering women through sustenance and vocational skills training. The Daily School Feeding Project was designed as a cornerstone initiative to tackle malnutrition and hunger among school-aged children, thereby fostering a conducive learning environment.

Objective: The primary objective for the 2023/2024 academic year was to provide five nutritious lunch meals per week to children in underserved schools, aiming to support their health, attendance, and academic performance.

Methodology: Our methodology centered on partnerships with local food suppliers, engaging community volunteers for meal preparation and distribution, and collaborating with schools to identify and reach beneficiaries effectively.

Project Implementation: The project was implemented with the collaboration of three schools, reaching a significant number of children, though fewer than initially targeted due to funding constraints. Our team worked diligently to ensure the quality and nutritional value of meals, despite the limited resources.

Results and Achievements

Meals Provided: An average of three lunch meals per week were offered to each child, falling short of our five-meal goal.

  • Increased Attendance: Schools reported a noticeable increase in attendance rates among participants, attributed to the consistent provision of nutritious meals.
  • Improved Well-Being: Teachers and parents observed improvements in the children's overall well-being, including their energy levels, concentration, and academic performance.

Challenges and Lessons Learned

  • Funding Shortfalls: The primary challenge was the inadequate level of donations, which directly impacted our capacity to meet our meal provision goals.
  • Adaptation and Resilience: The project underscored the importance of adaptability in the face of resource constraints. Strategies to maximize the impact of available resources were essential.
  • Community Engagement: The increased involvement of community volunteers and local suppliers played a crucial role in sustaining project operations, demonstrating the power of community support in overcoming challenges.

 Conclusion and Future Directions

The Daily School Feeding Project has made strides towards fulfilling Intentional Sister's Keeper Corp's mission, despite not achieving all its initial goals. The positive outcomes observed affirm the value of the project and our commitment to its continuation and expansion.

Future Plans

Enhanced Fundraising Efforts We will explore new fundraising avenues, including digital campaigns, corporate partnerships, and grant applications, to secure the necessary funds for expanding our reach.

  • Increased Awareness: Raising awareness about the critical link between nutrition, education, and academic success is essential to garnering broader support.
  • Program Optimization: We aim to refine our operational strategies to increase efficiency and impact, ensuring that more children receive daily meals without compromising quality.

This report serves not only as a record of what has been achieved but also as a blueprint for the future, guiding us as we strive to fulfill our mission and expand our impact on the lives of children and their communities.
