Displaced households living in makeshift shelters across Al-Somoud camp endure extreme economic hardship, with many parents unable to secure basic daily meals for their children. To prevent acute hunger and support household nutrition, BESME INSANI deployed a targeted relief initiative delivering both family food baskets and fresh daily bread. Through this intervention, our field staff provided 275 comprehensive food packages and 1100 kg of fresh bread to 275 impoverished families (~1400 individuals).
The monthly food baskets included fortified cooking oil, pulses, sugar, grains, and essential condiments tailored to shield families against severe local market inflation. Simultaneously, our mobile logistics network delivered daily fresh bread allocations straight to camp block leaders and individual shelter tents, guaranteeing reliable daily food supplies.
Field coordinators established organized queue management systems and designated waiting areas for female heads of household and elderly residents. Verification officers confirmed recipient vouchers against master registration lists to maintain full operational transparency and efficiency.
Combining monthly food basket distributions with daily fresh bread provides a complete food safety net, restoring hope and physical well-being to families living under severe crisis. BESME INSANI remains dedicated to expanding integrated food security interventions across informal camp settlements throughout Northwestern Syria.
