Widespread displacement and rising commodity prices have intensified food insecurity across informal displacement centers in the Afrin region. To protect vulnerable households from hunger, BESME INSANI deployed a daily bread distribution campaign targeting high-need communities. During the operational period, our field teams successfully delivered 12,000 kg of fresh bread bundles to 2,400 displaced families, reaching approximately 12,000 individual beneficiaries.
In many informal camps, local bakery access is severely restricted due to damaged infrastructure and high transport costs. BESME INSANI’s intervention bridged this critical gap by funding direct bakery production and organizing daily mobile distribution routes directly into target camps.
Field logistics were managed seamlessly through decentralized distribution nodes. Staff members verified recipient vouchers and maintained orderly queues, preventing site congestion and ensuring equitable access. Community leaders assisted in identifying newly arrived displaced families requiring urgent daily food support.
Receiving fresh bread daily relieves impoverished parents of a crushing expense, allowing them to reserve scarce financial resources for heating fuel and medical care. BESME INSANI continues to monitor food security indicators in Afrin, striving to sustain vital bakery partnerships and emergency food safety nets for Syrian families in need.
