Atmeh camp, one of the largest informal displacement settlements in Northern Syria, houses thousands of vulnerable families struggling under severe economic hardship. To alleviate acute food insecurity, BESME INSANI executed a daily fresh bread distribution campaign specifically targeting high-need households within the camp. Over a dedicated field cycle, our teams delivered 18,000 kg of fresh bread bundles to 3,600 displaced families, directly benefiting approximately 18,000 individuals.
Due to rising flour prices and limited local incomes, purchasing daily staple food has become an overwhelming financial strain for displaced parents. Through this intervention, mobile distribution trucks transported fresh bread bundles early each morning directly from partner bakeries to designated camp sectors. This ensured that families received warm, nutritious bread at their shelters without incurring transport costs or walking long distances.
Field logistics were conducted in close coordination with Atmeh camp administrators and local representatives. Priority registration was granted to widow-headed households, families supporting orphans, the elderly, and child-headed families. Distribution monitors managed queues efficiently, ensuring safe, equitable, and dignified access for all registered beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the consistent bread supply, noting that it eliminates a critical daily worry and allows them to allocate scarce household funds toward emergency medical needs and shelter winterization. BESME INSANI remains fully committed to maintaining its life-saving food assistance pipelines across Atmeh camp to protect vulnerable families from hunger.
