Access to affordable staple food remains one of the greatest daily challenges facing displaced families living in informal camps across Northern Idlib. To respond to this pressing need, BESME INSANI implemented a daily fresh bread distribution campaign, delivering 15,000 kg of fresh bread bundles to 3,000 displaced households (approximately 15,000 individuals) over a continuous operational cycle.
Bread is the central, non-negotiable component of every Syrian family’s daily meal. Due to rising flour prices and fuel costs, purchasing daily bread has become an overwhelming financial strain for unemployed parents. Through our program, mobile distribution trucks collected freshly baked bread directly from contracted regional bakeries early each morning and transported it straight to camp clusters.
By utilizing a decentralized camp-level delivery network, our field staff ensured that every registered family received warm, fresh bread bundles directly at their shelter tents without having to walk long distances or pay transport fees. Priority was granted to families with young children, widows, and child-headed households.
Beneficiaries reported that receiving daily bread lifts a heavy daily worry from their shoulders, allowing them to allocate their scarce financial resources toward health and winter protection. BESME INSANI continues to prioritize fresh bread assistance as an indispensable, immediate line of defense against severe hunger in displaced communities.
