Daily Bread & Essential Food Support for Syria

Following severe economic hardship and protracted displacement across Northern Syria, BESME INSANI executed an emergency food distribution campaign targeting highly vulnerable families in informal camps near Northern Idlib. During this phase, our field teams successfully delivered 1,200 standard family food parcels to displaced households, directly benefiting approximately 6,000 individuals, including widows, orphaned children, and persons with special needs.

Each standardized food basket was designed to meet a family’s essential nutritional needs for an entire month. The parcels contained vital food commodities, including wheat flour, vegetable oil, rice, red lentils, chickpeas, sugar, tomato paste, and canned legumes. These essential rations provide immediate relief to households suffering from acute food insecurity and soaring local market prices.

Prior to execution, field coordinators conducted thorough community needs assessments alongside local camp committees to ensure transparent beneficiary selection and orderly distribution points. Standard operating procedures were rigorously maintained on-site, providing dignified access to food assistance while avoiding overcrowding.

Recipient families expressed deep appreciation for the timely intervention, noting that the food basket significantly alleviates their monthly financial burden and ensures their children have reliable meals. BESME INSANI remains fully committed to sustaining these vital food pipelines to protect displaced populations from hunger and extreme poverty in Syria’s most affected camp clusters.
