One of our greatest accomplishments is the volume and quality of care we have provided to poor, rural Chinese children with heart disease. Last year, the China California Heart Watch, with a staff of four people, supported the care of 185 children. For comparison, last year the Yunnan branch of the Red Cross Foundation with a staff of 25 and a budget nine times that of the China California Heart Watch supported the treatment of eight Yunnan children with heart disease. Most all of our 185 children benefitted from the highly skilled attention they received from our professional medical volunteers like Professor PC Chow of the University of Hong Kong, Queen Mary Hospital. For the past two years, Dr. Chow, a pediatric cardiologist, has spent his vacation time volunteering for the China California Heart Watch to care for children with heart disease and to teach our extern volunteers. Dr. Chow and other volunteer foreign and Chinese experts have worked with us on a number of missions to screen children for congenital heart diseases. A wonderful clinician and teacher, Dr. Chow brings expert knowledge and consultation advice to bear on the management of these children. In August, Dr. Chow examined 30 and referred 19 impoverished children with heart disease from the Lijiang region of Yunnan Province. The China California Heart Watch will find sufficient financial support to insure that all 19 children will receive the treatment they need for a chance to lead long, healthy, and happy lives. We depend on people like Dr. Chow and on your support in order to bring happiness, productivity and health to our children. Please support our efforts by making another donation to our cause.
