The China California Heart Watch serves a number of vital roles in rural Yunnan Province, China. In addition to providing free diagnostic workups and compassionate care for impoverished children living with congenital heart disease, we provide grants to cover the costs of their corrective surgeries. So far, our generous supporters on GlobalGiving have enabled us to provide surgeries for 25 children. Please support our cause and help us fund surgeries for 10 more children before the year is out!
The western Chinese countryside has been left behind by China's economic reforms. This is particularly tragic for the approximately nine in 1,000 children born in Yunnan who have heart defects. Families cannot afford to pay for expensive heart surgeries. The children pictured here are some of these children, and China Cal has found them just in time. They desperately need an operation to cure their heart disease, which with your help they will be able to undergo in Kunming, Yunnan's capital.
These children need donors to pay for their medicines, surgery and travel to/from the hospital in order to save their life. We must also raise money so that their parents can accompany them from the countryside to the hospital. Your donation will go directly (100%) toward covering these costs.
This project will save the lives of up to 35 rural children and increase awareness of the need for better health care in China's rural areas. It is our belief that increased awareness will lead to better overall care for rural Chinese children with heart disease and bring attention to the growing pandemic of cardiovascular disease in China.
