China Cal helped 8 poor Yunnan kids get their life saving heart surgeries in 2020. The kids shown here were helped by your generosity and compassion so that they can live normal productive lives
Ju is a 17 year old girl lives in small village in Lincang prefecture. She has been frequently fainting when she exercises. She also has difficulty breathing. Family income is less than $800 per year. Ju was diagnosed at Fu Wai hospital with an abnormal blood vessel between her aorta and pulmonary artery (PDA) and with a very slow heart rate (third degree heart block). Surgery was performed at Fu Wai Hospital and a permanent pacemaker was inserted. Post operatively, her symptoms improved and she was discharged from the hospital. Total cost of procedure $10,000. China Cal grant will be $4000 to support treatment and ancillary travel expenses
Yu is a 13 year old boy lives in Qu Jing prefecture, Shi Zong county. Parents have both died. He lives with his grandparents who are both 80 years old. Family has no income. He lives in a school dormitory where basic needs are provided. He is unable to exercise and is frequently short of breath. Fu Wai doctors, during a visit to his village, detected a heart murmur. They diagnosed him as having a hole between his heart ventricles (VSD). He underwent corrective surgery at Fu Wai hospital and has recovered successfully and left the hospital in December. Surgical costs are $7,000. China Cal will support $2000 to cover surgical and ancillary expenses.
Hao Yu. is a 10-year-old boy lives in Xuan Wei county, Shuang He Town. Father works in the city cleaning streets. His mother takes care of 80-year-old grandparents. Family earns less than $800 per year. He is not able to participate in physical education class due to fatigue and shortness of breath. Fu Wai doctors discovered he has a hole between his atria (ASD). He underwent surgery on December 14 at FU Wai hospital. He has completely recovered and has been discharged from the hospital. Total cost of surgery was $3000. China Cal will cover $3000.
Dai Yi is a 6 year old boy who lives in Da Guan County with his Mom and Dad who are farmers. Their yearly income is $3000i. His father works far away in Kunming to supplement their income. They also support their grandmother and his older brother. He was having difficulty breathing and was diagnosed by Fu Wai doctors with an atrial septal defect. Surgery will cost $4000. China Cal will cover $2000 of his medical costs.
Meng Ya is a 3 year old girl living in Bao Shan prefecture. She lives with her Mom, Dad, Grandfather, Grandmother and sister. Family income is $5000i per year. She was passing out and not able to exercise. Fu Wai doctors diagnosed her with a ventricular septal defect. Cost of surgery is $5000 renminbi. China Cal will support $3000 for costs of all her treatment and her travel to the hospital.
Dong Xia is a 7 year old girl from Da Guan county in Zhaotong prefecture. She lives with her mother. Her father works in Kunming on construction and cleaning. Her grandma is sick and taken care of by the family. She had breathing difficulty and was seen at Fu Wai hospital where an atrial septal defect was diagnosed. Cost of surgery is about $3000i. China Cal will cover $2000 of the cost of her care and her travel.
Ze Xuan is a baby girl, one and a half years old. She lives in Qi Jing with her Mom. Her father works in Kunming with garbage pickup and odd jobs. Their income is $5000 per year. She was turning blue when she cried. Doctors diagnosed a patent ductus arteriosus which is an abnormal blood vessel between the aorta and pulmonary artery. It will cost $5000 for surgery. China Cal will support $2000 for care and travel.
Jia Han is a three-year-old girl living in northern Yunnan Province (Wei Xi County). Her parents are minority farmers and her sick grandparents also live with them. Their yearly income is $5000. She has an atrial septal defect and surgical costs are $3000. China Cal will support $2000 of medical expenses.
