Project Report | Aug 6, 2025
Cambodian Eye Mission 2025

By DR CHRIS LYON | Project Leader

The IOFF foundation has integrated with THE BLINDNESS FOUNDATION's work in Cambodia and is providing funding for fellowships. These fellowships for post Resident Ophthalmologists enable young Eye Doctors to obtain out of country sub-specialty training in areas of Ophthalmology that provide more specific levels of care.

This upgrades not just the skill-set of the Cambodian Eye Doctor returning to serve his own people, but also spreads the latest technology within the Ophthalmic community in Cambodia. This persists down through the next generation of Eye Doctors and upgrades the proficiency and sophistication of treatments within Cambodia.. The patients thus benefit from a higher quality of care from the more knowledgable Eye Doctors.

As such ,Fellowships extend THE BLINDNESS FOUNDATION'S abilty to train Ophthalmologists and save sight in more patients. A real multiplier effect, for which we are very grateful to IOFF.

Our essential other work with lectures, lens and equipment supply continues in our November Eye Mission

.( Please see past reports for photos) that was disrupted in the COVID era and is now resuming with two teaching hospitals in Phnom Penh, the caapital city

The current border clashes with Thailand will hopefully have reached a settlement by November, and permit our usual travel arrangements to access the teaching hospitals.

Bless you all for your continuued support.

 Thank you

 Dr. Christopher Lyon
