Cambodia - what are the current challenges to Eye Care ?
When you go to your Eye Doctor , your vision is recorded and you take from ther- a simple 3 minute procedure that tels both you and your Doctor the status of your vision. Simple yes ?
Not so in Cambodia. Even with native Khmer speakers , villagers arriving at the Eye Hospitals are challenged to even read an eye chart. Explanations can take up to half an hour to get the very concept across to the patient, even with gentle prompting and education.
Thus everything slows down.
This is what we found at one of our supported teaching hospitals in Phnom Penh on our recent visit.
No glamorous photographs can capture the painstaking work that precedes any surgery or examination.
Yet even in the face of these stresses our work continues and your support in treating and preventing blindness helps this generation and the next live better quality lives.
Thank You for your kind and continuuing support !
