Communities living near Uganda's border with the Democratic Republic of Congo face heightened vulnerability to infectious disease outbreaks because of frequent cross-border movement, limited health resources, crowded public spaces, and gaps in access to reliable prevention information. Good Cause Foundation Uganda seeks to mobilize $50,000 to strengthen community-level Ebola prevention, awareness, early reporting, hygiene, and preparedness in vulnerable border communities.
Ebola remains one of the deadliest viral diseases in Africa, with outbreaks causing fear, loss of lives, economic disruption, and pressure on already fragile healthcare systems. Uganda has experienced multiple Ebola outbreaks over the years, and the recent regional alerts demonstrate the continuing risk of community transmission.
Train 200 community volunteers and youth leaders on Ebola prevention and response. Conduct door-to-door sensitization campaigns reaching over 5,000 people. Distribute handwashing materials, soap, sanitizers, and protective supplies to vulnerable households. Support local health teams with community reporting and referral systems.
